A Little About Me!
Hi, I’m Sophie!
With 13+ years of global business experience, I’ve navigated leadership, grown successful teams, and mastered the art of scaling with strategy and confidence. I’ve also been part of a global female leadership programme for 3 years, mentoring women to step into their highest potential.

I left school and took a GAP year before University and trained as an English teacher. I asked to be sent somewhere ‘completely different’ and ended up in Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia!
I was supposed to be there for three months but I did some scuba diving on my weekends off from teaching, and ended up making friends with the instructors, staying an entire year, doing my first professional qualification and running a dive centre out there!
Once I started Uni I had 3/4 months off each summer so the first year I travelled to Thailand, qualified as a scuba instructor at 19 and did freelance work for several dive centres. The following year I went to Vietnam and ran a dive centre there for the summer. Once I graduated I got a job as a diving instructor on a very remote Fijian island which was only reachable by cargo ship! I taught volunteers how to dive and then they surveyed the reef with marine biologists – it was shark diving heaven! I came back to the UK to do a Masters in Southeast Asian Anthropology, Economics and Politics, and then after that decided to move abroad again and this time start my own dive business!

After a month of dirt biking around Cambodia, my husband and I arrived in North Sulawesi, Indonesia and we found the perfect location – a beach surrounded by mangroves which was right in the middle of the Coral Triangle, the best place for scuba diving in the world!
We spent a month or two researching what we would need to do to start a business there – what visas we would need, what language to learn, what investment we would need… and then we bought a beach! We lived there for five years and built our resort which was completely off grid; we had wells for water, generators for electricity and we ended up with 8 beach cottages, a restaurant, dive centre, 11 Indonesian staff and two boats! We had our kids out there, started an NGO and defeated a Chinese mining company, taught some of our local community skills so they could work in the hospitality and diving industry and had a great adventure! I learned so much about running a business there that I still apply to my life and businesses now!
We sold the resort after five years and headed back to the UK so our kids could go to school here and we now have a property business and investment portfolio, and of course we live by the beach on the South coast of the UK! I am passionate about helping others find their passion and fire and develop them as leaders and help them really develop as a leader in their own business!
